Hey, hi, welcome!

This space is reserved for us to take a deeper look at our own personal lives and how we can richen our daily tasks, routines and life choices with mindfulness and purpose. We can all agree that life is short, and we need to let go of all of the noise that keeps us from smiling everyday. I strongly believe the teachings of yoga have the ability to shed away the lifetime of layers we have built up around ourselves to reveal how we truly want to live our lives.

  • Are you curious about learning more about yourself?
  • Do you want to become more mindful in your daily life?
  • Have ever felt that you are capable of more than what you are currently doing?
  • Do you want to feel strong and confident in yourself?

These were all answers I was looking for when I first stumbled into yoga 10 years ago. And when I did finally come to my yoga mat for the first time, I realized that I was hiding behind expectations of others and not doing what I wanted to do, for me. Read more about it here.

I was always the girl who was a Hippie at heart. I even got a “peace” tattoo when I was 18. Enjoying good times with family and friends, listening to great music and just simply enjoying life was what I had surrounded myself with. But, overtime, that care-free girl got lost in the responsibilities of adult life and the stresses of a corporate job. I didn’t recognize who I was anymore and my life was on a trajectory that scared the crap out of me. I had lost my drive to be healthy and take care of myself because I was dedicating all I had to something that I really didn’t care about.

Have you ever felt this way?

Quite simply, yoga woke me up and slapped me across the face to make a change. Don’t get me wrong, I am still a working responsible adult (well, on most days I am), but I reworked my priorities to include a yoga practice to keep me on track and hold myself accountable to, well, me.

 And it worked.

I have heard my same story from many other yoga students over the years. They wanted to re-connect with themselves, and yoga helped them do it. And that is why The Yoga Citizen is here, to provide tools to help you build strength and confidence to live truthfully, all through the help of yoga.

“Don’t practice yoga to get better at yoga, practice yoga to get better at living.”

 Cheers,

Laura
